The Maldives come to London
Natural History Museum
Being tasked with transforming a historic London museum within one hour into the tropical Maldives during World Travel Week was the ultimate brief. The museum’s links with conservation and Hope the blue whale suspended from the ceiling made this venue the perfect setting for the Westin Maldives hotel launch in the UK. We constructed a wooden jetty to transport guests through to the reception space where they enjoyed coconut cocktails at the sunset bar and canapés inspired by the sea.

We constructed a wooden jetty to transport guests through to the reception space where they enjoyed coconut cocktails at the sunset bar and canapés inspired by the sea.
We created a luxurious Maldivian feel echoing the island’s natural shapes as well as the hotel’s sustainable feel by styling the venue with natural materials such as driftwood, coconuts and shells. We wrapped the bar top with a coral reef design and brought to life the hotel’s restaurants with interactive food stations featuring their live chefs.
Lighting was key to transforming this vast space, the floor was a wash of blue with a ripple effect and the walls transitioned from sunset hues of yellow and orange to twilight of purple and blues for the evening.
Guests were invited to experience the wellness features of the hotel to include their spa, bed and floral crown workshops.
