Heckfield Place

A beautifully ethereal evening for a very special celebration. This intimate table had all the grandeur you could wish for with romantic swags of soft fabric, flickering candlelight and elegant florals.

The design was centered around an ethereal feeling, a dinner in the clouds. It was designed to feel almost magical and otherworldly. Light and airy, elegant and sophisticated, a simple and limited colour palette, yet so layered and detailed. The table was designed in a purely nude colour palette with a focus on gorgeous textures and an overall softness. With the light filled space, we draped soft cream fabric, swagged this across the space providing a lovely backdrop to the table on each side. Layering the fabric achieved a gorgeous depth to the space and we intertwined the drops of fabric with the existing plants and pots within the conservatory, incorporating them, to allow the fabric to feel perfectly at home within the surroundings.

The table itself wasn’t dressed with a cloth which allowed the beautiful light, natural wood to be on show. Down the centre of the table a fabric runner was placed, ruffled and ruched to add movement and texture. Along the length of the fabric runner, we placed the florals and wove elegant cream taper candles in glass holders between. The florals, despite being in a very limited nude colour palette had a huge level of texture and depth. The variety of flowers used, the texture of the petals and the structure of the display added such interest and elegance to the table.

The tableware followed the nude palette and was neutral but with a bobbin edged design. The ivory handled cutlery was the perfect choice and the subtly blush pink water glass perfectly picked out the blush tones of the florals.  On each place setting, a blush pink scalloped napkin sat, again highlighting the pale pinks seen elsewhere within the table.

Finally, the chairs finished the look – a beautiful grey oak frame which worked well with the wood of the dining table. Each chair had a rattan back, curved leg detail and an elegant neutral linen seat.
