London marquee weddings: Our hidden gems

Given the year we have all had and the uncertainty when it comes to weddings, we are finding that more than ever we are being asked for the best spots for London marquee weddings. We are really proud of our marquee experience and feel very happy when on site building a dream wedding space. We have extensive knowledge of London and all its secret gardens. Yes that's right, the city is full of secret spots. There are also some places you may have walked past a hundred times and never realised you could host your wedding celebrations in.

After you've found the perfect place, we can set about creating the dream wedding venue. That after all is the beauty of a marquee - you are literally building your venue. We have built marquees in private gardens, in very public gardens, on historic sites and in secret spaces. It can feel daunting to embark upon a marquee build however our role is to guide you through the process. Firstly though, the perfect spot. Read on to discover some of our favourite spots for London marquee weddings.

MANCHESTER SQUARE

We're lucky to know about the gardens at Manchester Square as we're often found planning weddings at the Wallace Collection. As the venue isn't open for weddings during the daytime, we have transformed the gardens into the perfect space for an afternoon reception. The gardens work perfectly following a ceremony for an afternoon tea or a long champagne and canapé reception. We build the marquee under the trees allowing the dappled sunlight to reach the space. Open sided marquees work so well here as the garden has a romantic feel. Perfect for creating an English country wedding in the heart of the city.

MONTAGUE STREET

Montague Street Gardens are truly hidden. So many people will have walked past the entrance to the gardens without even noticing. A stone's throw from the British Museum and totally enclosed, the gardens are an amazing, tranquil space. Receptions are perfect here. Imagine arriving after your ceremony and entering through the ornate black and gold gates to a secret garden. Beyond the gates and between winding paths, a gorgeous marquee is built for your afternoon reception. Acoustic music, a very British summer tea party is the perfect format for this space.

THE PAVILION

There couldn't really be a grander spot for a marquee than the exquisite Kensington Palace. Overlooking the sunken garden this incredible marquee will actually only be there for a little while longer. Built in front of the Orangery whilst it was being renovated, this is the perfect blank canvas space for weddings. Hosting up to 300 for dinner, it's perfect for an impressive and grand wedding. Before you know it, it'll be gone so it's definitely worth securing a date for this special space.

BEDFORD SQUARE

We describe the garden at Bedford Square as being similar to the one famously pictured in Notting Hill. You do actually have to have a key to access these amazing gardens. Sat within a square surrounded by tall, historic townhouses, the garden feels secret and private. Within the square there are secluded areas, perfect for pop up bars, photobooths and sweet stalls. This space is large and can accomodate bigger weddings and receptions with music and dancing afterwards.

AMBER LAKES

Now, this venue is technically not in London, but it's very close so please forgive us. Set within a 450 acre nature reserve the venue feels as if you're in another country. The gorgeous Lodge space is surrounded by water making it feel totally serene. Within your hire you even get a boat to explore the lakes! You can just imagine the incredible wedding shots as the sun goes down.

The Lodge itself has panoramic floor to ceiling windows an incredible marble top huge bar running the length of one wall and beautiful wooden ceiling. For the larger events we build marquees to allow for big seated dinner with dancing in the Lodge afterwards.

THE ORANGERY

Nestled within the gorgeous gardens of Holland Park sits the stunning Orangery. Surrounded by the sweet smelling rose gardens, this is a gorgeous place to marry. The venue has a wedding license and allows for marquees also making it truly flexible.

So few people know that you can marry here and we think that makes it all the more special. Walking through the park with your guests and having your pictures within the tranquil gardens is such an iconic way to marry in London. The space is better suited for more intimate weddings and acoustic music is allowed making for an elegant afternoon affair. Alternatively a great afternoon ceremony space before moving onto an after party nearby!

We hope you've found your perfect space among our list of gems. Contact us to arrange to visit one of the gardens as we can offer a walk through of how the space would work and the ideas to create your perfect venue. We do love the countryside but we're so at home planning London marquee weddings in the city.
