The Design Museum; London’s iconic venue space
The museum relocated to the striking old commonwealth institute building on Kensington High Street back in 2016. This impressive Grade II listed building then opened its doors to the public on the 24th of November 2016 and became the European Museum of the year in 2018. The incredible “hyperbolic paraboloid” roof houses seven varied event spaces each bringing their own element to the scheme. The spaces will be tailored with your business and brand in mind, some spaces can even be combined if needed. The modern and innovative spaces are each designed to inspire creativity and collaboration, with state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technology. Whether you're hosting a small meeting or a large conference the Design Museum is bound to meet your business needs.
Event spaces available at the Design Museum
The Plaza
The newest addition to the museum is The Plaza, set in the heart of Holland Park. The ideal location for summer soirees and making the most of the surrounding scenery, catering for up to 100 guests . On entering the building you are met with the expansive triple-height atrium, with mezzanine levels and excellent views of the iconic roof. There is plenty of space to seat 150 guests for dinner and over 1000 standing across the three floors.
Helen and Johannes Huth Gallery
The large Helen and Johannes Huth Gallery is available day and night with capacity for 200 seated guests. With floor-to-ceiling windows and light oak floors, the natural light bounces around the space, offering a blank canvas to get creative with.
The Bakala Auditorium
The Bakala Auditorium, with its large 4.7m x 2.65m screen and theater-style seating is the ideal choice for screening presentations.
Chumsri & Luqman Lounge
The long and elegant Chumsri & Luqman lounge boasts views over Holland Park and is the perfect location for a more intimate daytime meeting over lunch.
Sachs Family Park Room
For bigger groups, the Sachs Family Park Room caters for up to 120 evening guests and is bound to impress with its statement polished pewter bar and trendy Vita furniture, not to mention the scenic views.
The Dessau Room
Finally, The Dessau Room is a small yet perfectly formed boardroom-style space able to accommodate 14 guests, with a glass-sided wall overlooking the library.
