Golborne stages the Greatest Showman theme party at Old Billingsgate, London

We were challenged to rewind the clocks to the 1850s to stage the party of the year for our client's amazing staff. We had the pleasure of transforming one of London’s most iconic venues, Old Billingsgate, into a lavish three-ring circus inspired by the greatest entertainer on earth, P.T. Burnam and the Greatest Showman movie.

Every year this London-based Estate Agent holds a special awards party to celebrate their inspiring staff and present awards to the top achievers in the company. This young and dynamic crowd spend their weekends at some of London's most exciting and unique club events. This presented us with a fantastic challenge to deliver something genuinely new and exciting. 

A million dreams in Old Billingsgate, London

Located on the north bank of the river Thames, the historic grade 2 listed building offers stunning views from the very heart of the city. Once a world-famous fish market, Old Billingsgate is now London’s foremost luxury events venue. Inside, the venue is spacious and versatile, with plenty of room to create a truly immersive experience.

From the moment guests stepped inside, they knew they were in for a truly unforgettable evening.

Come alive with the magic of Circus

To truly do justice to the Greatest Showman theme, we pulled out all the stops to provide exceptional entertainment for the guests. As the staff members entered the building they were greeted by champagne, stilt performers and a DJ working his magic from a high-up balcony overlooking the crowd. We then arranged for a talented aerialist to perform as the guests had their dinner. Red and gold dominated the colour scheme which we used in the huge balloons, drapes, uniforms and table settings. Vintage posters complimented the Victorian vibes, and every detail, down to the menus and table numbers was true to "the greatest showman" theme.

Once the awards were presented and the aerialist had finished their routines we parted the dinner tables to expose a dramatic star-filled dancefloor for the guests to use whilst a fantastic live band took the energy of the evening to another level. Once the band had finished their 2-hour set the DJ took over one last time to entertain all the committed partygoers still dancing at 11 pm. 

Never Enough delicious catering

Guests were treated to a variety of Duck & Whaffle, Courgette and Buttermilk Popcorn Canapes. Jimmy Garcia and his team then presented guests with family-style sharing platters that were “just the ticket,” paying attention to every detail, even the ticket was edible! The Ticket main meal included barley, blossom and honey glazed chicken and an alternative vegetarian option for the main course. The “pudding stall” was an absolute smash hit with toffee apple doughnuts, pistachio and white chocolate marshmallows, honeycomb and popping candy lollipops. Our catering team’s attention to detail was truly impressive, adding an impossible-to-resist pudding station pudding stall after the main course. We also circulated a classic combination of burgers and fries late at night for those needing an extra bit of energy after an evening on the dancefloor.

To really dig into the theme all catering staff wore red braces, the tables were dressed in gold and red, and the bar staff gave extra flair with their top hats.

Old Billingsgate, the perfect party venue

Old Billingsgate is the perfect venue for award ceremonies, large receptions, grand weddings, and big brand events. We loved being part of this amazing annual staff party and it was a joy to provide the guests with a truly unique experience that will be talked about in the staff office for years to come!
