'A Dior Garden Party at the V&A' as featured in Pearl and Pear

Our inspiration for the styling of this exclusive private viewing event came from Christian Dior's love for gardens - "Christian Dior loved flowers as much as he loved female beauty."

The Christian Dior Designer of Dreams exhibition at the Victoria and Albert museum opened in February 2019 and we were lucky enough to be one of the first London event planners to host a corporate event at the museum with a private viewing of the exhibition.

We took inspiration from our favourite room within the exhibition which featured an incredible installation of suspended paper flowers and petals influenced by Dior's own garden.

Working with Pinstripes and Peonies and Wise Productions we wrapped the central bar with gold mirror cladding and created a show stopping 'mountain of flowers' design. We created a meadow of blush pink, green and white flowers wrapped around the gold bar featuring floor standing meadow sections rising up the bar and at bar level. Rising above guests heads our florist then installed a bespoke made central gold plinth filled with further luscious, elegant meadow flowers rising up to compete with the Rotunda Chandelier.

Following this theme through to the exhibition we also screened off the museum's shop by installing an immersive meadow garden from the dome to the exhibition, a real grass turf walkway complete with bird song and a harpist. Pinstripes and Peonies installed ultra-chic meadow sections in bespoke gold boxes at varying heights with flickering candle light, giving the idea of walking through Dior’s garden.

Wise Productions provided the warm lighting and a green leaf pattern wash in the dome to once again reflect the garden theming but also the brand colours of our client.

Our caterers Rhubarb presented canapes in jewellery boxes and cocktails with floating flowers to compliment the theme. Their front of house team were given a makeover with hairstyles to reflect Dior’s heyday. The pièce de résistance however was the 18ft dessert station dressed with three mannequins in bespoke dresses to imitate photos of Dior in actual fittings. The dessert station was adorned with all the delights you might find in a Parisian patisserie, such as pistachio macaroons, mini tarte tatins with crème fraiche and tarte au citron.
